There are many people who have encountered unethical conduct at work. This can include bullying, harassment and verbal abuse. On the job, harassment comes in many forms. Discrimination is illegal when it comes to workplace harassment. (Doyle. A, 2019)
Juliana’s case is similar to that of Juliana, where her co-workers’ underestimation of her abilities as a supervisor and employee was probably due to her race, despite the fact that she has worked hard and proven this many times. Co-workers did not have any reason to do so, and they were in no position to do so. This could be because her skin tone. This shouldn’t cause Juliana to make a hasty and reckless decision about her job. Juliana is not the right person to quit her job. I think she should be able to prove herself to her colleagues that she belongs in that company and position. She has worked hard and earned a good job because of that.
Juliana’s co-workers were also wrong in their evaluation of her. She is a UK graduate in Humanities who topped the Co-Corporations Management Program and performs above average in her job while she enjoys it. They didn’t have any proof that Juliana lacked qualifications. Nor did they have a reason to suggest that her personality was unpleasant. They were ignorant and unnecessary.
Juliana is right to confront her colleagues about their remarks and make things clear, but in a constructive and respectful way. She must let the coworkers and supervisors know she feels discriminated. Juliana’s decision to confront her fellow co-workers is a wise one, because it could help prevent any misunderstandings. She can also clear up any doubts. She can resolve the problem and clarify it by confronting the other co-workers. This will prevent any awkward situations for her in the future. Juliana is best to consult her supervisor about the issue if she has not been able to resolve the problem or if it escalates. The supervisor will advise and guide you. They may also take action to resolve the conflict with the co-workers. Juliana’s co-workers will be more likely to reach an agreement with her if they accept the mistake that was made and are willing to admit the conflict.
Discrimination on the job is based upon prejudices. This occurs when an employer treats employees unfavorably due to their gender, race, sexuality, religion or disability. It is when an employee is treated differently just because they differ from the other employees. This is a criminal act. (Benstead. S, 2018)
Discrimination suits can be a serious matter. But before you take any such steps, make sure to carefully read your situation to determine whether it’s serious enough to warrant filing a suit. In Juliana’s case, I don’t think a discrimination lawsuit is necessary. The conversation was between co-workers, the supervisor, and not at Juliana directly. It wouldn’t make a good case because there’s no proof that she’s been discriminated. However, if this situation directly affected Juliana or if she was involved in the conversation with her co-workers as opposed to the supervisor it would make a very different narrative. Juliana is not going to want to complicate the situation by taking such a drastic step.
Juliana should confront her coworkers, explain what she has heard, and try to reach an agreement with them. Juliana also can give her opinion and clarify the situation. She can go to her supervisor and explain this situation that she has come across after thoroughly reading it. The supervisor will then follow company policies and guidelines, and Juliana may be guided on what to do.
To conclude, all employees should adhere to company policies and guidelines. Employees must be made aware that harassment and bullying are unacceptable, as well as verbal abuse, discrimination and other forms of verbal abuse. It is possible to take certain steps to prevent discrimination on the job, including educating everyone about deviances in the workplace and how to deal with them. J, 2017). It is important to educate the public about this issue, so that they can complain about similar situations and be assured of confidentiality.
